Paddy Lowe will be leaving Williams

Paddy Lowe, who has been on an extended leave of absence since 5 March, will be leaving Williams and will step down from the board of directors with immediate effect. Niki Lauda passed away at age 70

Three-time Formula 1 world champion Niki Lauda has passed away, aged 70. The Austrian, who had a lung transplant last August, won the F1 drivers’ championship in 1975 and 1977 with Ferrari and again in 1984 with McLaren. In 1976 he staged one of the greatest sporting comebacks in history when, just six weeks after being badly injured in a fiery crash in Germany, he triumphantly returned to action, only narrowly missing out on that year’s drivers’ crown.

Philipp Eng takes maiden DTM win at Zolder

Philipp Eng earned an emotional maiden victory as the DTM returned to its birthplace at Belgium’s Zolder circuit. The Austrian BMW driver benefited from a mid-race Safety Car period, that carved the race in half and enabled him to take full advantage of an early stop for tires to take victory in DTM at his 23rd attempt.

The C3 WRC returns to Latin America

The WRC heads to Argentina for round five, only the second on gravel after Mexico, where the Citroën Total World Rally Team crews Sébastien Ogier – Julien Ingrassia and Esapekka Lappi – Janne Ferm will once again enjoy the huge, passionate crowds typically found in Latin America. Both crews will be determined to show the same speed they had a month and a half ago on the roads around León and maintain their run of podium finishes.

Formula 3: Shwartzman shifts up a gear in final F3 test

Robert Shwartzman was fastest on Day 2 of the Final FIA Formula 3 pre-season tests in Budapest, Hungary. The rampant Russian set the best time in the morning session, lapping the circuit in 1:30.746. This time was the best of Budapest testing overall. ART Grand Prix’s Christian Lundgaard and PREMA teammate Jehan Daruvala completed the top 3.

Greensmith makes a return in Argentina

M-Sport Ford World Rally Team’s Gus Greensmith and Elliott Edmondson will make a return to competition at next week’s Rally Argentina – taking to the wheel of their EcoBoost-powered Ford Fiesta R5 in the FIA World Rally Championship’s premier support series, WRC 2 Pro.
