Sebastian Vettel is still without a racing seat for next season, this caused several rumors over the last weeks. But the German newspaper Bild, which is usually right on Vettel’s plans just wrote that Vettel will be joining Aston Martin Racing next season.
Aston Martin Racing already has a contract for several years with Sergio Perez. The deal with Lance Stroll will also be strong, as his father owns the team. Since the moment Vettel came onto the market the team principal Otmar Szafnauer has denied that there would be space for Vettel at their team. However, it seems that Sergio Perez has a clausula in his contract that makes it possible for both Aston Martin Racing and Sergio Perez to terminate the contract earlier. This clausula has been put in his contract after the legal action he took, which made Lance Stroll take over the team.
Lance Stroll earlier commented that with becoming a factory-backed team there will be a rebranding of the team and hiring a four-time world champion would be a very good picture for the struggling car manufacturers brand.
This would also back-up the talks he had with Toto Wolff, as the supplier of the power-units and gearboxes, and with Toto Wolff buying shares in Aston Martin it would be good for both to have a world-champion drive their materials.
However, at this moment only time will tell. When we know more, we will let you know.
